A family idea that became Bloom.
Bloom started in 2014 as a family business with roots in healthcare. Siblings Nicole Stark and William Hollander founded it with their father, Nate Hollander, and longtime family friend Peter Turco, and they set out to raise the standard for how cannabis is sold.
Nate had spent a long career in medical equipment sales, and he brought a focus on quality and on the people Bloom serves. Peter, a lawyer, gave the team the legal foundation to build in a new and closely regulated industry. We came from healthcare, and we still run Bloom that way: carefully, honestly and with every guest at the center.
We were among the first dispensary operators in Maryland, opening in Germantown in 2018 as Bloom Medicinals, and in Ohio, where we began serving patients in 2019. Today Bloom has seven Ohio dispensaries, with North Columbus on the way, plus Bloom Germantown in Maryland.
More than 425,000 customers later, we’ve heard just about every question, and we’re glad to answer the next one. Our motto sums up how we work: we are people who care, serving people who matter. Our tagline says the rest: Cannabis. Done right.

When was Bloom Cannabis founded?
Bloom was founded in 2014 and is still family-owned. The founders are siblings Nicole Stark and William Hollander, their father Nate Hollander, and longtime family friend Peter Turco.
Is Bloom the same company as Bloom Medicinals?
Yes. Our Germantown, Maryland dispensary has served Montgomery County since 2018 and was formerly known as Bloom Medicinals. Today it is simply Bloom, the same company and the same team.
Where are Bloom dispensaries?
Bloom has seven dispensaries in Ohio, in Akron, Athens, Massillon, Painesville Township, Seven Mile, South Columbus and West Columbus, with North Columbus coming soon. In Maryland, Bloom Germantown serves Montgomery County.
Do I need a medical card to shop at Bloom?
No. Every Bloom serves both registered medical patients and recreational customers. Customers 21 and older can shop with a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID. Registered patients should bring their patient card as well.
Does Bloom deliver?
No. Bloom does not offer delivery in any market. You can order ahead online and pick up in store, which is the fastest way through.
